About the prize

cb859606-975a-40ba-a209-4ffbfe0e6dafThis is a delightful holiday cabin on the beach at Dungeness, moments from the sea, with wonderful views. A modern en-suite shower room and separate living room with small kitchen give you the option to rustle up basic meals, and a generous comfy kingsize bed  awaits your tired head. Spectacular views of the two lighthouses across the shingle beach towards the sea and only moments from The Pilot Inn which serves food. The excellent Dungeness Fish Hut Snack Shack which provides freshly caught seafood from the Thomas’ family boats is nearby.

On arrival, as winner, you will also receive a signed hardback copy of The Birdwatcher to entertain you during your visit.

If you don’t win, or even if you do, you can also always book a stay here on AirBnB.

Back to the competition

You will have sole use of the cabin during your stay. Independent access to come and go as you wish. Use of a garden area, and parking space for one car. Bedding and towels are included.

Please note: this is a different cabin from the one originally offered in this competition; Paddy’s cabin became unavailable, but we’re sure you’ll love this place instead.

birdwatcher_competition_twitter-cards_three

8 Feb 2017 This competition is now over. Thanks to EVERYONE who took part, and wrote such great reasons for why they wanted to stay.

In the run up to the UK paperback publication of The Birdwatcher on February 9 2017, I’m giving away two nights at a very special place in Dungeness. See below for How to Enter.

The Birdwatcher is set in this extraordinary location on the Kent coast. It’s there that William South, the birdwatcher, has lived all his adult life.

You can win two bed-and-breakfast nights at a delightful one-bedroom holiday cabin on Dungeness, a unique part of the Nature Reserve. Its the perfect base to explore this wild and magnificent area of Kent. You’ll also win a signed hardback of The Birdwatcher.

HOW TO ENTER

Just fill in the form by February 7 2016, telling us why you want to spend two nights at Dungeness. We’ll pick the person we think has the best reason to want to go there.

Note. This competition is for members of William Shaw’s Readers list only; as a member of the list, you’ll receive a handful of emails during the year about events, new books and prizes.

The winner may chose two free nights at this special place subject to availability. Travel to and from Dungeness are not part of the prize, sadly!

The hosts don’t permit smoking; no parties.

The winner must be over 18 and must abide by the house rules of the property. Dogs only by agreement of the host. All extra charges must be paid by the guest. Check in is after 3pm.

In the event of you having to change dates from the ones you have previously selected, there may be a charge.

We will chose the winner who gives the best reason for wanting to stay two nights at Dungeness.
