Writer-in-residence William Shaw will be talking about the strange relationship between research and invention in fiction. He’ll be asking whether it’s the fact that crime writing increasingly occupies a space between fact and fiction that makes it such a good lightening rod for society’s very real anxieties, and whether this is the reason why it has become such a popular medium.
